Israel Bonds Holds Art And Home Tour CARLA JEAN SCHWARTZ L OCAL COLUMNfS T T he Metro Detroit Israel Bonds Women's Division held their 11th annual art and home tour Sept. 23. The event began with a breakfast at the home of Edna and Philip Minkin and continued with a visit to the homes of Dolores and Seymour Brode and Lois and Paul Katzman. Mar- jorie Krasnick and Bluma Schechter were co- chairmen of the event under the guidance of President Rochelle Lieberman. Attendance was limited to 1993 purchasers of $1,500 or more in Israel Bond securi- ties. More than 70 women attended the event, which raised $325, 559. Some of the Israel Bond supporters in- cluded: Ann Baruch, Penny Blumenstein, San- dra Dembs, Paula Glazier, Nancy Grosfeld, Linda Hayman, Doreen Hermelin, Nancy Jacob- son, Betty Kahn, Agnes Klein, Belle Kukes, Terran Lemis, Meryl Podolsky, Betty Silver- farb, Leslie Sternberg, Barbara Traison, Judy Verona, Lucille Weisberg and Andi Wolfe. Harris/David Klein Gallery in Birm- ingham, where there is an exhibition of her handmade paper works. According to Mr. Klein, 50 percent of the sales from Ms. Fisher's ex- David Klein and Mary Fisher hibition will benefit the Family AIDS Network, which provides counseling for families of AIDS victims. Ms. Fisher, a former Detroiter, is HIV positive and a leading spokesman on the disease. The exhibit runs through Oct. 2. BETH ACHIM ANNIVERSARY Congregation Beth Achim began their 25th anniver- sary celbration on Sept. 12 with a Nancy Gurwin musical production. Mayor Donald Fracassi of Southfield presented a proc- lamation to Beth Achim's President Gary Leeman, Rabbi Martin Berman, Dr. Manuel Feldman and Abe Friedman.
