Fred Dobb, a Wexner Fellow
at the Reconstructionist Rab-
binical College in Philadel-
phia, will address the status
of Jewish Women in both the
U.S. and Israel. He has
worked as a Jewish en-
vironmental educator and
studied with the Hornstein
Program in Jewish Com-
munal Service and at the
Machon Pardes in Jerusalem.
Registration begins at 9:30
a.m. with breakfast at 9:45.
The program starts at 10:15
a.m.

event, but there will be no

Fran Gold
Chairs Institute
Fran Gold has been appointed
chairperson of the 46th an-
nual Institute of the Women's
Division of the Jewish
Federation of Metropolitan
Detroit.
The Oct. 27 program, a
"how to" symposium on the
preservation, protection and
promotion of the Jewish fam-
ily, will feature Ron Wolfson,
director and past dean of
education at the Whizin In-
stitute for Jewish Family Life
at the University of Judaism.
Ms. Gold, who also chairs
the Women's Division
Volunteer Management Com-
mittee, sits on the division's
board and is a past chairper-
son of its Spring Forum. She
is on the boards of Jewish
Family Service and the
Jewish Ensemble Theatre
and. is a member of the Na-
tional Council of Jewish
Women, B'nai B'rith Women,
Congregation Shaarey Zedek
and Hadassah.

Dr. Goldsmith is emeritus
professor of English at Wayne
State University, where he
has been on the faculty for 39
years. His specialty is 20th
century American literature,
particularly fiction.
