Hebrew Literacy
At Adat Shalom

The Adat Shalom Men's Club
will offer Hebrew literacy
classes, beginning with a con-
tinental breakfast and open-
ing session from 9:30 a.m.-
12:30 p.m. Oct. 3 at the
synagogue. The course will
continue for 10 Monday eve-
nings, 7:30 to 9 p.m. through
Dec. 6.
The program will offer
Hebrew classes at three dif-
ferent levels. Beginners, those
with no previous Hebrew
knowledge, will earn the let-
ters and vowels and some of
the prayers of the Friday
night service. Intermediates,
who already know the letters
and some words, will focus on
learning to read the prayers.
(This is the appropriate sec-
tion for those who studied for
bar and bat mitzvah a num-
ber of years ago and wish a
refresher course.) Advanced
students will improve reading
skills and ability to keep pace
with the Shabbat morning
service.
Hebrew literacy instructors
are Adat Shalom members
who are proficient in Hebrew
and have had past teaching
experience. Adat Shalom
clergy will also participate. A
materials fee will cover books,
the Sunday breakfast, and all
classes.
For information, call Don
Rudick, 855-1917; or the Adat
Shalom office, 851-5100. ❑
