Opens Exhibit

William Lewis, Recent
Work," an exhibition in con-
junction with the 1993 Dis-
tinguished Alumnus Award,
will continue through Oct. 22
at the Jean Paul Slusser
Gallery, 2000 Bonisteel
Boulevard, Ann Arbor.
Gallery hours are Tuesday
through Saturday, 11 a.m.-5
p.m.
Mr. Lewis has traveled the
world to record, in water-
based media paintings, the ef-
fect of the industrial age on
the human race over two
centuries.
Mr. Lewis was raised in
Michigan and graduated from
the University of Michigan in
1948. Now professor emeritus
of art, Mr. Lewis served as
associate dean several times
and taught primarily water-
color painting from 1957 un-
til his retirement in 1985.

Adat Shalom Synagogue will
begin a new Shabbat ex-
perience for preschoolers and
their parents at 10:30 a.m.
October 2. "Torah for Tots"
will take place on the first
Shabbat of each month.
The program will make use
of creative songs, soft Torahs
and special stories.
Cantor Howard Glantz and
his hand-held puppets, Gomer
and Gefilte Fish and Louie
the Lox, will make visits to
the Torah for Tots sessions. ❑
