The Women's Division
Sponsor Society of Israel
Bonds will host its 11th
Annual Art and Home Tour
Sept. 23.
The tour,
which is
scheduled
from 9:30
a.m. - 1:30
p.m., will
visit the
Bloomfield
Hills homes
of Dolores
and Sey- Krasnick
m o u r
Brode, Lois
and Paul Katzman and
Edna and Philip Minkin,
where a petite breakfast
will be served.
Transportation between the
homes will be provided.

Participation on the tour
is based on 1993 Israel
Bonds purchase of $1,500 or
more. These investors will
be present-
ed with a

Bonds
Sponsors
Pin design-
ed for the
Woman's
Division by
the Israeli
artist Nava
Segev.

The B'nai B'rith Young
Leadership Network will
sponsor a program about
Life in the 90s 7:30 p.m.
Sept. 21 at 5000 Town
Center, Southfield.
Speakers for the event

Jeff Zaslow, syndicated

dance honoring Joseph and
Eva Gyongyosi, Sept. 27 at
Adat Shalom Synagogue,
Dr. Robert L. Sadoff,
national president of
American Red Magen David
for Israel, will be the speak-
er.
Dr. Sadoff, is a forensic
psychiatrist and an active
member of the ARMDI
national board of directors.

Director Marx
Screens Film

Academy Award-Winning
producer/director Sue
Marx will screen her film
Young at Heart before an
outreach gathing of the
Jewish Federation's
Young Adult Division 7:30
p.m. Sept. 23 at the
Michigan design Center
in Troy. The event is open
to all young adults — sin-
gle and married in the
community.
Young at Heart is a doc-
umentary about two wid-
owed Detroit-area artists
in their mid-80s who meet
on a painting excursion to
England and, through
their common interest in
painting, discover,
romance and marriage.
Ms. Marx has made
films in the Detroit area .
The program includes a
dessert reception. There
is a charge.

The International Fed-
eration of Secular
Humanistic Judaism, the
Society for Humanistic
Judaism, and the
Birmingham Temple of
Farmington Hills will break
ground Sept. 26 for the
Pivnick Center for
Humanistic Judaism, The
5,800-square-foot center
will become part of the
Birmingham Temple cam-
pus and is expected to be
completed in the spring of
1994. It is named for
Benjamin Lorraine Pivnick
longtime supporters of
Humanistic Judaism.
The center will provide
headquarters for the
International Institute for
Secular Humanistic
Judaism, which serves as
the intellectual center for
Humanistic Judaism.
Currently, four students a
enrolled in the rabbinic pro-
gram of the Institute more
than 50 people are enrolled

in the leadership program
for ceremonialists, profes-
sional leaders, and educa-
tors for secular and
Humanistic Jewish commu-
nities around the country.
The center will serve as
headquarters for the
Society for Humanistic
Judaism, a federation of 21
Humanistic Jewish commu-
nities in the United States
and Canada, including the
Birmingham Temple.
The center will house the
Birmingham Temple educa-
tion programs, including
adult education classes,
Sunday and weekday school
programs, Hebrew school,
and bar/bat mitzvah and
confirmation classes. An
education and resource
library will be located at the
center.

Honors Mark-Ross

Florine Mark-Ross

Yad Ezra will hold its
third annual fund-raising

dinner Nov. 17 at Adat
Shalom Synagoue. It will
honor business and com-
munity leader Florine
Mark-Ross.
Ms. Mark-Ross has been
involved with Yad Ezra as
president and CEO of the
Weight Watcher Group,
Inc. She has spearheaded
a number of food drives
benefitting not only Yad
Ezra but other soup
kitchens, shelters and
pantries throughout metro
Detroit.
Ms. Mark-Ross is co-
chair of this year's United
Jewish Appeal. She has
been named Woman of the
Year by B'nai B'rith's
Women's Council and has
served as an executive
trustee on the board of
Sinai Hospital.
