She will speak at services Sept. 10, 11 and will conduct a teachers' seminar Sept. 12. Dr. Blumberg is assistant professor of Jewish education on the rabbinic faculty of Hebrew Union College- Jewish Institute of Religion in New York City. With a background in Jewish educa- tion spanning a quarter- century, Dr. Blumberg is a published author. Her major areas of research are in Jewish curriculum develop- ment, informal and family education and the intersec- tion between theology, ethics and education. Temple Isarel's scholar in residence program is spon- sored by the Dr. Robert B. Goldberg and Professor Ruth L. Goldberg Memorial Fund and is part of Temple Isarel's year-long series of adult education opportunities. Guest Rabbi At Adat Shalom Adat Shalom Synagogue will host Rabbi Victor L. Hoffman of Jerusalem as guest rabbi for the High Holy Days. Rabbi Hoffman was or- dained at the Jewish Theological Seminary, where he also received a master's degree in Hebrew literature. From 1981 to 1989 he was associate director of the Masorti (Conservative) Move- ment in Israel. The family service will be conducted by Rabbi David Nelson, Cantor Samuel Greenbaum and Reverend Sami Semp. It will include ex- planations of the prayer ser- vice, Torah reading, shofar blowing and a Rosh Hashanah story. A special holiday Machzor, Tiku Shofar, will be used. The regular Rosh Hashanah and Junior Con- gregation services will pro- ceed at Beth Shalom. Cantors Sing At Tribute ilk. Stein Lubin Cantors Stephen Stein and Abraham Lubin will be the guest presenters at Adat Shalom Synagogue's Oct. 17 tribute dinner honoring Can- tor Larry and Gitta Vieder. Cantor Stein is the presi- dent of the Cantors Assembly, the largest organization oif cantors in the world; Cantor Lubin is the assembly's vice president. Cantor Stein is a graudate of Duquesne University and the Cantors Institute of the Jewish Theological Seminary. He served Beth El Congrega- tion of Akron, Ohio, for the past 13 years. Cantor Stein was the force behind These Lights of Hanukah and Music for Passover, two recordings of Jewish music featuring the Kent State Chorale, which have aired on public radio throughout the country. Cantor Lubin was born in London and returned to Israel with his parents, fourth generation Israelis. He graduated as a cantor from the Jewish College Cantorial School. He also is a graduate of the London College of Music, the College Conser- vatory of Music of the Univer- sity of Cincinnati and Depaul University. Cantor Lubin is the former editor of the Jour- nal of Synagogue Music. The event will mark Cantor Vieder's 33 years of service to Adat Shalom. BAHM Plans For Selichot The Adult Education Corn- mittee of Congregation Beth Abraham Hillel Moses will present a Selichot gathering 9:30 p.m. Sept. 11 at the synagogue.
