young leaders have been
selected to receive the
Jewish Federation's annual
Young Leadership Awards.
Lawrence Lax will
receive the Frank A.
Wetsman Award and Lynn
Sachse the Sylvia Simon
Greenberg Award. The hon-
ors will be presented at an
upcoming board of gover-
nors meeting.
Mr. Lax serves of the
Real Estate Committee of
the United Jewish
Foundation, the Jimmy
Prentis Morris Renovations
Committee, Federation's
Leadership Development
Committee and the Agency
for Jewish Education board
of directors.
He co-chaired both the
Lynn Sachse
1993
Allied
Jewish
Campaign Worker Training
Committee and the
Campaign's Real Estate
Division. In 19912, he was
associate chairman of the
Walk for Israel.
Ms. Sachse, who has
served on board of the
Federation Women's
Division since 1993, is a
member of the Jewish
Education Division and the
Makor Committee. She also
is chairing the Business
and Professional Women's
Division worker training
and education committees.
With the United Jewish
Appeal, she is the national
recruitment chairman for
the UJA Women's Young
Leadership Cabinet
Washington Conference and
the YLC Midwest Area
chairman.

TO A JEWISH ME is

A 25 session educational experience open to children 5 - 16 years
old whose parents desire to give them an opportunity to learn
more about their Jewish heritage.
The Stepping Stones program starts September 26, 1993 at
Congregation Shaarey Zedek, Southfield, MI 48034, from 1:30 to
3:30 PM, TUITION FREE. Parent Orientation September 19,
1993, 2:00 PM.

A community project for children of unaffiliated interfaith families
developed by the Conservative and Reform Rabbis of Metropolitan
Detroit with the support of the Max Fisher Foundation of the
Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Detroit and administered by
the Agency for Jewish Education.
Phyllis and Al Newman of Bloomfield Hills dedicate their ongoing
hearing aid project for the needy elderly in the Hadassah-Hebrew
University Medical Center's Hearing and Speech Center. The
Newmans have collected more than 3,000 hearing aids.
