Stern, Kaufman
Chair Committee

Jessie Stern and Herbert
Kaufman have been ap-
pointed chairpersons of the
Quarter Century Club Com-
mittee of the Jewish Federa-
tion of Metropolitan Detroit.
The club consists of nearly
1,800 people who have sup-
ported the Allied Jewish
Campaign for a minimum of
25 years.
A past vice president of the
Jewish Federation Women's
Division, Ms. Stern serves on
its Advisory Service Council.
She is on the MAKOR Com-
mittee and was associate
chairman of Federation's
Community Services Plann-
ing Division.
She is past president of the
Greater Detroit Section of the
National Council of Jewish
Women and served on the na-
tional NCJW board. She also
was a board member of the
Fresh Air Society, Jewish
Family Service and the
Jewish Community Council.
President of Temple Beth
El, Mr. Kaufman is past presi-
.dent of the Jewish Funeral
Directors of America. He was
a founding board member of
the former Yavneh Reform
Jewish Day School and is a
member of the community
relations and membership
committee of the Franklin
Hills Country Club.
In addition to Ms. Stern and
Mr. Kaufman, the committee
consists of Marjory Ansell,
Robert Benyas, Joyce Blum,
Philip Elkus, Dede Feldman,
Dr. Max Garber, Sally Green,
Carolyn Greenberg, Wallace

Sets Calendar

The Congregation Beth
Achim Men's Club has
planned events for the coming
year.
On Oct. 3 there will be a
tour of old Detroit. Oct. 10
will mark the men's club paid
up membership brunch.
Men's Club Day at the Jewish
Book Fair will take place Nov.
7. The Men's Club Square
Dance Night will be Nov. 20.
On Dec. 12 and 16, the
men's club will pay their an-
nual visit to Borman Hall
and Prentis Manor. Jan. 14
will be Murder Mystery
Night. The annual Las Vegas
Night will take place Feb. 5.
Men's Club Shabbat will be
March 5. May 15 will mark
the men's club election
breakfast, and the installa-
tion brunch will be held June
19.

Mission Talk
For Na'amat

The Hanita-Israel Chapter of
Na'amat/USA will meet 12:30
p.m. Sept. 21 in the Crown
Pointe building.
Arline Gould will speak
about the experience of atten-
ding the Miracle Mission to
Israel. Refreshments will be
