Open Season
Youtheatre at Music Hall Cen-
ter will open its 1993-94 season
of live performances for young
people and families with the an-
tics of The Potato People Oct. 16,
17.
This is the first of 12 week-
end shows Youtheatre will pre-
sent at Music Hall; Youtheatre's
Puppets at the.DIA series is
scheduled for six Saturdays at
the Detroit Institute of Arts.
All the season's shows are
chosen to captivate and chal-
lenge the imagination of the
young audiences, whether they
involve the monkey business of
Curious George, the mystery of
The Lion, the Witch and the
Wardrobe or the Ishangi Fam-
ily's authentic music and dance
of West Africa to celebrate
Black History Month. Other
shows range from the excite-
ment of achieving goals — Lit-
tle Women, Ugly Duck, and
Young Abe Lincoln — to the
music fantasy of Prince Street
Players' Aladdin.

Family History
Exhibit Set
The Southfield Public Library
will host "Family Folklore," an
exhibition of 20 panels of text
and photographs depicting the
memorabilia, stories, holidays,
traditions and objects of folk-
lore. The exhibit will open on
the library's main floor Sept. 18
and continue through Oct. 17.
The exhibition is free and
