Natural

he Israel Tennis
Centers, a free nation-
al tennis program for
Israeli children, re-
cently had some prominent
visitors. Seymour Brode,
national chairman of the
Israel Tennis Centers and
owner of the Franklin
Fitness & Racquet Club,
visited the Israel Tennis
Center in Jerusalem with
Teddy Kollek, mayor of
Jerusalem, and David
Dinkins, mayor of New
York City.
Mayor Dinkins visited the
Israel Tennis Center be-
cause he is interested in
starting a similar center in
New York City. There are 11
centers throughout Israel
that have benefitted more
than 250,000 children. Mr.
Brode explained that the
tennis centers are helping
with the peace process by
building cooperation among
Arab and Jewish children.
"It's very important because
Arab and Jewish children
are playing together."
The Israel Tennis Centers
will be holding some inter-
national meetings in Detroit
in October. Many of the
members will be in town
when Israel Bonds honors
Seymour Brode at 6 p.m.
Oct. 28 at Congregation
Shaarey Zedek.

ADL FRIENDRAISER

The Anti-Defamation
League of B'nai B'rith held a
friendraiser, an event with
no solicitation of funds, Aug.
31 at Tam O'Shanter Coun-

co-chairs of the evening,
which featured a "Motown

formances by Martha
Reeves, the Marvelettes and
the Contours. More than 250
patrons attended the event.
Fran Gross Linden, pres-
ident of the ADL Michigan
Advisory Board, thanked the
crowd and explained that
the ADL is the only Jewish
organization that directly
confronts and combats anti-
Semitism. Some of the spon-
sors of the event included:
Doris and Fred Blechman,
Jenny and Eli Dorfman,
Marsha and Harry
Eisenberg, Sheila and
Mark Fenton, Helen and
Jeff Garden, Linda and
Barry Goodman, Loren
and Mayer Gordon, Helen
