he Artists' Gallery,
Inc., in Farmington
Hills, a gallery owned
and operated by 29
local artists, is currently
showing the exhibit "A New
Way of Looking" inspired by
children's art. The gallery
asked several local school
districts to submit art from
children. The artists then
used the children's art as in-
spiration. Alongside many of
the children's creations,
there is a work by an artist
Wedding scene by Jo Simon.

from the gallery. The pur-
pose of the exhibit is to build
bridges and expand creative
opportunities for both
groups.
Artist Elaine Redmond
developed the concept. "I'm
involved with Art to The
Schools at the Detroit In-
stitute of Arts, and I go into
several classrooms. I really
wanted a project to involve
suburban children, " said
Ms. Redmond.
"There is incredible talent
here," said artist Deborah
Friedman about the chil-
dren.
Artist Iris Czajkowski
is amazed at how expressive
the children are.
The works by Hillel Day
School students Elad Bar-
dicef and Hillary Moss,
showing boats in stormy
weather, are hanging next to
a piece by artist Barbara
Nigro. The glass work of
artist Diana Feurer comple-
ments the work by Laura
Weiner of Hickory Grove
school. Artist Jo Simon
painted a bride and grroom
under a chuppah to comple-
ment a scene by a student
who drew a couple inspired by
Grant Wood's American
Gothic painting.
This delightful exhibit
runs through Oct. 3.
