Water from local wells
(there is a shortage of
potable water in Gaza) and

supplied from the Israeli
grid.
Jericho
Size: 8 square miles.
Population: 16,000 people
of whom 4,000 are refugees
living in two camps within
the city limits. No Israeli
residents in the city; three
Israeli settlements in the
vicinity.
Employment: Mostly in
agriculture, tourism, some
laborers employed in Israeli
industry in the West Bank.
Health services: One
small hospital, three clinics.
Water: From local wells.
Electricity: Supplied by
the Israeli grid through the
east Jerusalem Electric
Corp.

Irish Times
Apologizes

New York (JTA) — The Irish
Times has issued a public
apology for publishing a car-
toon that the Anti-
Defamation League attack-
ed as anti-Semitic.
The cartoon, which ap-
peared in the July 31 issue of
the paper, depicted a
dinosaur wearing a Star of
David helmet chasing
frightened people fleeing
from a war zone.
It was titled "Jewrassic
Park, AKA Southern Leb-
anon." ❑
