Open House Set
The new Adat Shalom
Religious School will begin
the year with a special pro-
gram 3:30-5:30 p.m. Sept. 5.
The program will begin with
open registration, a parent/
student orientation and an
open house.
Following the open house,
families will participate in
"New Beginnings" a family
education program focusing
on the celebration of the High
Holidays. Family workshops
are planned. "Cast Off Your
Sins" will explain the
tashlich ceremony. "It's Time
To Blow Your Horn" will ex-
amine the blowing of the
shofar.
Other workshops will focus
on apples and honey, New
Year greetings, the Shehechi-
yanu prayer, and a High Holi-
day Family Feud.
Following the opening pro-
gram, families will par-
ticipate in the Adat Shalom
Synagogue Family Picnic at
5:30 p.m.

Selichot Program
At Beth El
The Quarrel, a film which
delves into man's relationship
to man and to God, will be the
focus of Temple Beth El's
Selichot program and service
7:30 p.m. Sept. 11 at the
temple.
The Married Group of Tem-
ple Beth El will host the
showing and discussion of the
film to set the mood for the
10:15 p.m. Selichot service
which will follow. The film is
based on a story by the late
Chaim Grade and a stage
adaptation by Joseph
Teluskin.
Selichot observance will
begin with a 7:30 p.m. dessert
followed by the film at 8 p.m.,
discussion at 9:30 p.m. and
Selichot service in the sanc-
tuary at 10:15 p.m. all at no
charge.
