sion, Jenny Adelson took
gold medals in the 100, 200
and 400; Leah Weiss took
the silver in the 400 and
bronzes in the 800 and
1,600, and gold in the long
jump. The 4x100 relay of
Faya Gene, Leah Weiss,
Rachel Weiss and Jenny
Adelson, and the 4x400
team of Jodi Berris, Leah
and Rachel Weiss, and Lisa
Blechman won golds.
In the mixed relays, Jodi
Berris, Jenny Adelson, Sean
Teeple and Chad DeWolf
won the 4x100, and Sam
Polk, Andrew Sigman, Lisa
Blechman and Faya Gene
won the 4x400.
In the boys 12-14, Chad
DeWolf dominated winning
gold medals in the 100, 200,
400, long jump and high
jump. Sam Berman won
bronzes in the 200 and
1,600. Steven Krieger won a
silver in the 400. Sam Polk
won the gold in the 800.
Yevgeny Vyortkin won the
1,600 and took bronzes in
the 800 and 3,200.
Gold medal relays includ-
ed Sam Berman, Sam Polk,
Steven Krieger and Chad
DeWolf in the 4x100, and
Berman, Andrew Sigman,
Krieger and DeWolf in the
4x400.
In the boys 15-16 age
group, Marty Maddin took
bronzes in the 100, 200 and
400 and gold in the long
jump. Dan Ben-Meir took
silver in the 400. Adam
Estrine won the 800, 1,600
and 3,200.
In 15-16 relays, the boys
4x100 team of Maddin,
Berman, Estrine and
DeWolf won the gold; the
4x400 team of Ben-Meir,
Maddin, Polk and Estrine
also won. The coed team of
Maddin Jordan Field, Leah
Weiss and Rachel Weiss
won the 4x100. The 4x400
coed team of Rachel and
Leah Weiss, Estrine and
Randal Berg took the silver.
Pittsburgh
In Monday's results from

Pittsburgh, Detroit's girls
basketball team ended a
three-year losing streak.
The team lost to host
Pittsburgh 49-23, but came
back to defeat Richmond 30-
14.
In boys basketball,
Detroit defeated Richmond
decisively, then lost 54-53 to
Toronto in overtime.
In girls soccer, Detroit
tied Pittsburgh 0-0.
The three Detroit coed
volleyball teams had mixed
results Monday. The Detroit
A team beat Detroit C, Ann
Arbor and Syracuse B. The
Detroit B team lost to
Syracuse A and defeated
Ann Arbor. The Detroit C
team beat Syracuse A but
lost to Detroit A. ❑

Torah Center
Classes, Lecture

Bais Chabad Torah Center
has opened registration for its
fall high school program. The
classes, which meet during
weekday evenings, are geared
both for afternoon and day
school graduates. Registra-
tion is open to all students
regardless of synagogue af-
filiation. The course cur-
riculum includes classes on
Mishnah, Jewish history,
Chumash, and Jewish ethics.
Levi Tonkin will lead the
first of two demonstrations on
"Healthy Cooking for the
Holidays" 7:30 p.m. Aug. 31
at the center. There is a
charge; registration is
required.
Rabbi Elimelech Silberberg
will deliver a lecture on
"Reward And Punishment —
Some Chasidic Reflections"
8:15 p.m. Aug. 30 at the rIbrah
Center.

Club Chayim
Sets Calendar

Club Chayim, Congregation
Beth Achim's young married
couples groups for members
and non-members, has a
series of events planned for
1993-1994.
The first event will be a trip
to a local orchard for apple
picking Oct. 10. On Dec. 4,
Club Chayim will host a
Chanukah party and games
night. A movie marathon will
take place on Jan. 22.
On March 12, there will be
a mystery night. A road rally
and scavenger hunt will take
place April 17. On June 4,
Club Chayim will kick-off the
summer with a family
barbecue and fun day.
