formed an exploratory com-
mittee to run for the Senate.

Mr. Riegle doesn't talk
much about the competition
from within his party. He
will not discuss the banking
scandal that fans and foes

In fact, Mr. Riegle's
opposition to NAFTA — not
too different from others
from the Michigan
Democratic delegation — is
so strong that he is bringing
businessman Ross Perot to
a rally in Lansing next
month to muster support
from people in union-strong
Michigan.
"Ford, General Motors
and Chrysler have 70 plants
already in Mexico," Mr.
Riegle said in an interview.
"This agreement is like
walking into an airplane
propeller."
Many wonder why he
would join forces with Ross
Perot.
"I need his support," he
told the Economic Forum
group. "I would use Perot if
I had to to get the approved
$3 billion in foreign aid for
Israel."
Mr. Riegle started his
day visiting EDS in
Southfield. Later, he deliv-
ered his extemporaneous
speech about jobs, health
care, his support of Israel
