Reform Rabbis Plan
Interfaith Program

Registrations are now being
taken for Stepping Stones to
a Jewish Me, a Sunday school
exclusively for children in an
interfaith unaffiliated family.
The Stepping Stones program
is presented by the Conser-
vative and Reform rabbis of
metropolitan Detroit with the
Support of the Max Fisher
Foundation of the Jewish
Federation.
It is open to children bet-
ween the ages of 5 and 16
'whose parents desire to give
them an opportunity to learn
more about their Jewish
heritage.
The program will meet
weekly on Sundays at Con-
gregation Shaarey Zedek
1:30-3:30 p.m. Parent orienta-
tion will be held 2 p.m. Sept.
19 at Congregation Shaarey
Zedek, and classes will begin
Sept. 26.
The course of study over a
two-year period will provide
an introduction to the various
elements of basic Judaism.
Classes will be enriched with
arts and crafts projects, music,
drama and dance.
An optional, separate
course of study for parents
will parallel the curriculum
for children. This parent
track helps the non-Jewish
parent become more familiar
with Jewish rites, traditions

and culture. In addition, this
track provides a forum for
parents to discuss the special
concerns and problems
relating to the interfaith
family.
Tuition is free. There is a
charge for supplies. For
registration or information,
call the Agency for Jewish
Education, 354-1050.
