Scitex Profit Drops 26 Percent

Scitex Corporation last
week reported a 26 percent
drop in its second quarter
net profit to $22.1 million
from the $30 million it
earned in the same period
last year.
Before a company
announcement last month,
Scitex had been expected to
show net profits in the $30
million range.
Revenue for the Herzliya-
based high-tech firm rose to
$145.9 million from $134
million. Revenue totaled

$289 million for the six
month period, a 15 percent
increase over $251.9 million
from the same six months
last year.
In its release, Scitex
announced that the main
reason for its lower perfor-
mance was a shortfall in
revenue from Europe, which
traditionally accounted for
about 40 percent of all
sales. During the quarter,
sales in Europe fell 17 per-
cent to $48 million.
