hese kids are in a religious school that actually is right on Jaffa Road near the main Jewish marketplace. Unfortunately, they"re taught to really
feel antagonistic toward the more secular Jews. They're fooling around wi"-, me, but sometimes they can get a little nasty. For a lot of kids
growing up in the ultra-Orthodox areas of Jerusalem, Jaffa Road is the borderline between the sacred and the profane, and here they're right on the
borderline. I always wonder what's going to happen to them as they continue to grapple with these contradictions in Israeli life.'
