Mitzvah Group
Annual Dinner

The Michigan Region of
Women's American ORT
(Organization for Rehabilita-
tion through Training) will
host its Passp"ORT" to Sav-
ings fund-raiser Aug. 23-29.
Participating stores in the
tri-county area will offer 20
percent discounts (or more)
except sale merchandise and
special orders to shoppers
who present a Passp"ORT" to
Savings card during this
week only. The cards cost $35
and are non-transferable.

Hanita-Israel
Hosts Luncheon

The Hanita/Israel Chapter of
Na'amat/USA will hold its an-
nual luncheon, hosted by Et-
ta Kaplan in honor of the
children who were lost in the
Holocaust, noon Aug. 24 in
the Crown Pointe Building.
There will be a report of the
national convention. There is
a nominal charge.

gregation Beth Shalom. Us-
ing the book Embracing
Judaism as a text, the course
will be taught by Rabbi David
Nelson, along with Alicia
Nelson, instructor in Hebrew,
Judaic history and customs.
Class meetings will be held
for 15 weeks on Wednesday
evenings. Some basic Hebrew
instruction will also be given
as well as tutoring in reciting
many frequently-used
brachot.
Those interested in
registering should contact
one of the Conservative rab-
bis in the community. Each
participant must be spon-
sored into the course by one of .:7
these rabbis. If a potenti{s
student is not in contact with
a specific rabbi, he may call ,
