The Maple-Drake Jewish
Community Center will host
a free hearing screening 11
a.m.-1 p.m. Aug. 17.
Lovingkindness, by Ann
Roiphe, will be reviewed 10:30
a.m. Aug. 4 at Maple-Drake.
A lunch and learn titled
"The Impact of Islam on
Jewish Lives" will take place
noon Aug. 4, 11 at Maple-
Drake. Session I will feature
Rabbi Lane Steinger of Tem-
ple Emanu-El. Session II will
have the Imam Muneer
Fareed of the Islamic Assoc. of
Greater Detroit.
Rabbi Elliot Pachter of Con-
gregation B'nai Moshe will
discuss the changing role of
the synagogue in the United
States 1 p.m. Aug. 2 at Maple-
Drake.
An officer with the West
Bloomfield Police Depart-
ment will speak 12:30 p.m.
Aug. 4 on effective protection.
Nick Singh, managing part-
ner of Portfolio/USA, will
speak on long-term care in-
surance, tax-deferred in-
vestments, mutual funds and
estate tax planning 1 p.m.

ing food and packing home-

Rehabilitation Institute Resi-
