of Cantor Larry and Gitta
Vieder Oct. 17.
A native of Czechoslovakia,
Cantor Vieder came to Adat
Shalom 33 years ago as
associate cantor and Torah
reader. He became synagogue
cantor in 1974. He has helped
to prepare young people and
adults to lead services and to
read from the Torah.
Co-chairing the dinner will
be Maggie and Sidney
Feldman and Arlene and
Asher Tilchin.

Spirit Weekend

Congregation Beth Achim
will host a Spirit Weekend
Aug. 14-15 at the synagogue.
On Aug. 14 services will
begin at 8:45 p.m. followed by
a special Kiddush to meet the
clergy.
The Beth Achim branch of
the Congregational Religious
School will hold its open
house 11 a.m.-noon Aug. 15.
Prospective students and
parents can meet the
teachers, view videos and pic-
tures of the school's activities
and tour the classrooms.
Registration for the
1993-1994 school year will
take place.
The synagogue open house
will begin at noon with a
barbecue lunch. At 1 p.m.
youth activities will begin
with an appearance by Magi-
cian Michael Jacobson follow-
ed by games for children of all
ages. There is a charge for the
lunch.
High Holiday ticket and
membership information will
be available.
