through the ranks,' she

One result is that there are
only 11 women in the 120-
member Knesset, compris-
ing just 9.6 percent of that
body, the exact same

'Knesset elected in 1948, Ms.
Shalvi said.
The feminist leader

for the first time all the wo-
men Knesset members say
they are committed to the
