BODY AND SOUL Machon L'Torah recently hosted Dr. Judith Mishell of Los Angeles, a psychol- ogist and author of Beyond Your Ego. Dr. Mishell spoke on "The Joy of Self- Knowledge: The Interaction of Body and. Soul" and con- ducted a workshop as part of Machon's Uniquely Ours program. She discussed the various stages of spiritual development as one grows from seeking satisfaction for his basic desires to a total dedication to God. Initially disinterested in religion, Dr. Mishell ex- perimented with a variety of approaches before becoming observant. "There was a deep emptiness within me," she said. With Judaism, she found, "a sense of well- being, of getting up in the morning and finding that my life had meaning and purpose." Among those in the crowd were Malki Torgow, Gail Hennes, Chaya Duchin, Bayla Jacobovitz and Terry Schwartz.
