Temple Emanu-El in
January, a day-long
forum in March and infor-
mational presentations,
Michigan Jewish AIDS
Coalition (MJAC) has
._ uped, reconsidered and
revamped its program.
Time, money and volunteers
are needed to make it fly.
Now divided into three
tracks, MJAC will strive to
educate all segments of the
community about AIDS,
with a notably Jewish slant.
A curriculum for religious
schools, project and speaker
forums three times each
year, and specialized topic
presentations are available.
Each section has been
developed from the success-
es and failures of previously
held programs.
The curriculum, a three-
week, two-hour endeavor for
students in grades 8
through 12 and their par-
ents, is available to seven
congregations for the 1993-
94 school year. Titled
"Choose Life So That You
May Live — A Jewish
Family AIDS-HIV Educa-
tional Experience," the cur-
riculum is a joint project of
MJAC and Jewish Experi-
ences For Families.
Plans to present the pro-
gram at the Jewish
Community Center and
reach families unaffiliated
or not a part of the MJAC
schedule are in the works.
The curriculum consists
of information on the HIV-
virus and AIDS, Midrash
and personal essays,
vignettes on ethical dilem-
mas and interactive games.
Speakers may be brought in
to form a panel.
