Will Prince Philip Visit Israel?

I

srael reportedly is set
to invite the Duke of
Edinburgh, Prince
Philip, to a ceremony hon-
oring his late mother as a
Righteous Gentile.
If he accepts, it would
mark the first visit by a
member of the British
royal family to Israel.
Prince Philip's mother,
Princess Alice of Greece,

gave refuge to three Jews
during the Nazi occupa-
tion of Athens. She died in
1969 and was buried at
St. George's Chapel in
Windsor. Her remains
later were moved to
Jerusalem, in accordance
with her final wishes,
according to a report in
the Jewish Post and
Opinion.

"tell the public the truth

Among the leading food
staples in Israel is garlic,
where the pungent taste
treat is served peeled
(as opposed to a prefer-
ence for unpeeled garlic in
Spain and Turkey).
"Heroditus wrote that
the Hebrew slaves who
built the great pyramids
were fed raw garlic for
their health and
strength," according to
Israeli writer Daniel
Rogov. "Aristophanes
advised athletes to eat
garlic before competitions
to maintain their
endurance...
"Later, Mohammed
advocated the use of garlic
as an antidote in case of
stings and snake bites. As
recently as 1792, John
Millin, an English
botanist, claimed that it
would prevent bubonic
plague."

Among the favorite gar-
