Abehsera 10:30 a.m. Aug. 1
at the center, 5595 West
Maple Road. Mr. Abehsera,
who is an authority on
macrobiotics, author, speaker,
healer and mystical
philosopher, will speak on
"Healing for the Spirit;
Medicine for the Soul." For

Bais Chabad also will host
a mini-Shabbaton in West
Bloomfield with Mr.
Abehsera on the weekend of
July 30-31. The theme of Mr.
Abehsera's discussions will be
"Proper Nourishment for
Body and Soul." Guests will
be housed in the area, and
babysitting services can be
arranged for a small addi-
tional charge. Reservations
are required.

Forum noon July 20 at the
Clarion Hotel, Farmington
Hills.
The speaker will be the Rev.
James R. Lyons, founder and
executive director of the
Ecumenical Institute for
Jewish Christian Studies. He
is a visiting lecturer at the
James Madison College of
Michigan State University, a
Scholars Committee member
of Detroit's Holocaust
Memorial Center, executive
committee member of the Na-
tional Christian Leadership

Howard Simon, executive
director of the ACLU of
Michigan, will discuss
physician-assisted suicide at
the Maple-Drake . Jewish
Community Center 1 p.m. Ju-
ly 19. There is a charge for
non-members.
A summer lunch and learn
program will take place in Ju-
ly and August. "Jews In
Social Action" will be the
topic July 21, 28 as activist
and co-chair of the Peace Ac-
tion of Michigan Al Fishman
presents. "The Impact of
Islam on Jewish Lives" will
be the topic Aug. 4, 11. Rabbi
Lane Steinger of Temple
Emanu-El will open the
series. Imam Muneer Fareed
of the Islamic Association of
Greater Detroit will present
the second lecture.
Participants will meet at
noon for a brown-bag or pur-
chased lunch to be followed by
the lectures. There is a fee.
