We're having a birthday party...

YOURS!

Livonia . . . Give her a call at
421-7630 if only to just say
hello.
MAIL DEPT.. . . from Neil
Satovsky, president of Jewish
Federation Apartments . . .
"Over the years, you have
featured quite an assortment
of places to eat. There is one
dining bargain in town, to my
knowledge, you have missed
— the dining rooms of our
Jewish Federation Apart-
ments facilities. As part of our
food program, residents are
served a complete 'Soup to
Nuts' dinner. There are
always several salad and en-
tree choices and, several
times during the week, home-
baked desserts. The serving-
line personnel are friendly
and the camaraderie among
dinner companions cannot be
beat anywhere in the com-
munity except, perhaps, when
one's own family gathers.
Jewish Federation Apart-
ments is more than just a nice
place to live."

REUNION DEPT. . . .

Rhea Brody is trying to locate
members of the Shaarey
Zedek Girl Scout Troop of
1943-45 . . . Call her at
540-4832 . . . 1944 January
and June Central High grad-
uating classes are still on the
lookout for alumni names to
put in their 50th anniversary
directory . . . January grads
should call Bernice Gloss-
man, 661-6934, or Lorraine
Schubiner, 788-9777 . . . June
cap 'n gowners can phone
Rita Haddow, 683-2783.

MICHAEL KRIEGER,

singer/songwriter/pianist,
does his solo bit now Fridays,
Saturdays, Sundays and Mon-
days at popular Boodle's
Restaurant on W. 11 Mile at
1-75 in Madison Heights.
PERMITS HAVE finally
been passed and the new
2,000-square-foot kosher kit-
chen is expected to be at
Vineyards on Northwestern
Highway inside of 60 to 90
days . . . Shirlee Bloom and
Ron Asmar will be at the
helm . . . Supervision will be
by Rabbi Jack Goldman and
the Metropolitan Kashruth
Council of Michigan.
ONE OF Caesar's Palaces
lush buses is now carting
customers of Andiamo Italia
Ristorante on a bevy of lun-
cheon/dinner/entertainment
packages.
The vehicles, completely
customized for Caesar's
Palace, has stereo, television,
VCR, air-conditioning, etc. . . .
and is available by owner Joe
Vicari for group functions
that include food and events
packages to Tiger Stadium,
Pine Knob, Gem Theatre, Fox
and Fisher Theatre, Silver-
dome, etc.

While in Lake Tahoe, Joe
bought the plush comfortable
bus which was built in 1991
so it is only two years old.
Transportation cost is just
$10 . . . Customized menus,
including family-style feasts
and tickets are included in
the Andiamo packages.
Andiamo Italia on 14 Mile
between Mound and Van
Dyke, is another "swear by"
fine Italian dining spot of
many.
IT'S CALLED
EIP
(Emergency Trip Protection)
for folks who have to cancel
their trip because of a
medical emergency or family
tragedy . . . "Even if summon-
ed for jury duty," says Jules
Fayne . . . $20 covers it on all
charges by Hamilton, Miller,
Hudson & Fayne and its
suppliers.
LOOKING BACK on col-
umns of yesteryears .. .
JUNE 21, 1946 . . . "A well-
Fenster, the scrap metal man,
tried on suit after suit at a
local clothier without finding
the right fit . . . Color didn't
matter . . . just wanted a good
fit . . . Finally pulled one from
the rack by himself while the
salesman was busy hanging
the others up . . . It was
perfect . . . 'I've found the one
I want,' he yelled, and the
clerk came over to find Al
with his own jacket on!' "
JUNE 21, 1946 . . . "a well-
known surgeon 'round these
parts was invited out to din-
ner . . . and the hostess, feel-
ing he would be the logical
choice because of his profes-
sional training, asked him to
perform the slight task of car-
ving the chicken . . . All
didn't go so well however, and
the bird slipped off the plat-
ter, landing squarely in the
lap of the hostess . . . She was
extremely embarrassed but
tried to pass it off with a
jocular remark . . . "Whoops,
doctor," she said, "I don't
know whether I would trust
you to operate on me or not"
. . . The doc pulled himself up
to his full height and replied,
"You, madam, are no
chicken!"
AUG. 18, 1967 . . . "During
the recent rioting, when
traveling was a problem, at-
torney Henry Baskin shared
a taxicab one early morning
with a gentle little lady who
admitted to 80 years . . .
When they reached her ad-
dress, Hank said, 'I'm going
to see you safely to the door'
. . . 'You positively are not,'
she said forcefully. 'My hus-
band might be looking." El

The Jewish religion is, above
all, Jewish patriotism.
