Harriet Arnowitz Harriet Welton Arnowitz, 69, of Oak Park, died June 26. She was a founding member and past president of the Oak Park Human Relations Com- mittee and the Oak Park Council of Community Organizations, as well as charter member of Beth Shalom Synagogue, a foun- ding member and officer of Oak Park Friends of the Library and chair of a peti- tion drive for Oak Parkers for Peace. She initiated a clothing drive for refugees from Hungary. She was active with the Oak Park Arts and Cultural Commission, the Oak Park Clergy Council, the Ethnic Task Force and the In- stitute for Retired Profes- sionals through the Jewish Community Center. Mrs. Ar- nowitz was the campaign director for Janie Hart, active with PFLAG — Parents and Friends of Lesbians and Gays, a member of the Triangle Foundation and was ex- ecutive director for Workmen's Circle. She leaves her husband, Morris "Mickey"; sons and daughters-in-law, Burt and Joyce of Mill Valley, Calif.; David and Debbie of Corte Madera, Calif., Jonathan of Amsterdam; daughter and son-in-law, Rosanne and Dick Arnowitz-Hoeft of Saline; sisters and brothers-in-law, Ruth Maldaver of Southfield, Alice and Fred Maldaver of West Bloomfield, Jean Goren; brothers and sister-in-law, Barney and Peggy Welton of St. Petersburg, Fla., Milton Welton; one grandson. Burstein, 88,. of Southfield, died June 25. Dr. Burstein was a physician in family practice in Detroit for 64 years. He received his medical degree from Detroit College of Medicine (now Wayne State University) and was a partner of Burstein, Burstein and Burstein Physi- cians and Surgeons. He was on staff at Grace Hospital throughout his career. Dr. Burstein was a member of Phi Delta Epsilon Medical Fraternity, Detroit Men's ORT, Wayne County Medical Society and the Michigan Medical Society. Edward Skully Dr. Edward J. Skully, 83, former Detroiter of West Palm Beach, Fla., died June 23. Dr. Skully was born in Flint. He was a medical doctor and surgeon in private practice in Detroit for more than 51 years. He was on staff at Saratoga Hospital in Detroit and was the last living doctor of the original staff at Saratoga. He was a member of the Wayne County Medical Society and a life member of the American Medical Association. He is survived by his wife, Berdeen; sons and daughter- in-law, Roger of Grosse Pointe, Mark and Sharon York of Pin- ckney, Mich.; daughter and son-in-law, Dechario of Geneseo, N.Y.; four grand- children.
