A professor of social work at the University of Michigan, Mr. Gordon has been a JCC board member since 1988, heading up the Development Committee, ser- ving on the JCC's Long- Range Planning Committee and working as a leader in the JCC's Black/Jewish Coalition. He also has a longstanding affiliation with the Jewish Cultural Society. The following new board members were elected: Bernie Banet, Bruce Shapiro, Steve Merritt, Sue Adler, Debra Erlich, Ken Lieberthal, Evan Cohen and Michelle Freund. Ann Arbor JCC Plans Events The Washtenaw County Jewish Community Center Outing Club will sponsor a day at Pinckney Recreation Area on July 11 to mountain bike, swim and picnic. Call the JCC, 971-0990, for the meeting place and informa- tion. The Outing Club is for young adults, married and single, in their 20s and 30s. The Outing Club is taking names for people interested in group biking trips. All levels are welcome. Casual rides will be arranged. For in- formation, call the JCC, 971-0990. The views of Jewish, Chris- tian and Bahai clergy and professors on various Bible stories will be discussed in a Bible as Literature study group for older adults six Mondays this summer at the JCC. "A Bahai Perspective" will be presented July 5. "The Women in the Wandering" is the title of a talk by Judy Seid, Humanistic Jewish leader, July 12. On July 19, Nehama Glogower will discuss the Ten Commandments. Pastor Jeff Crane of Zion Lutheran Church will speak July 16. Douglas Evett, arch deacon, rector, St. Claire Episcopal Church, will speak Aug. 2 Gerda Seligson, a professor of classics at the University of Michigan, will speak on "Law and Lawgivers" Aug. 9, All of the lectures/study groups will be held at 10:15 a.m. at the JCC. The series is sponsored by JCC Older Adults programming and is free for JCC members. To enroll, call 971-0990. Nursery Enrolls For The Fall Temple Emanu-El Nursery School is enrolling for September. In addition to the regular nursery school, the temple will offer a regular licensed half- and full-day kindergarten, Two's On My Own class and Parent- Toddler. The Two's program offers half- and full-days for children age 2-2 1/2 years. Children do not need to be toilet trained for this or other nursery programs. Day camp still has limited openings. The day camp offers the option of 3 three-week ses- sions, with full- and half-days, for ages 2-6 years. Enrichment classes in gym- nastics and parent-tot are be- ing offered this summer and again in the fall. Call the nursery office, 967-HUGS, for information. Bais Chabad Plans Events Rabbi Elimelech Silberberg of Bais Chabad Torah Center will deliver a lecture on "The Commandment of the Kriat Shema" 8:15 p.m. June 28 at the Bais Chabad Torah Center.
