Malha/Manhat is vir-
tually unreachable by
public transportation,
but this will soon
change, says the
Jerusalem Development
Authority's Shlomit
Raday. "A large bus sta-
tion will service all of
south Jerusalem, and a
new train station will
link the complex to the
Jerusalem-Tel Aviv rail-
way," she says. This will
be the first new train
station in the capital
since the city was under
Turkish rule."
Roads connecting the
city's other neighbor- .
hoods to the complex are
also being improved. "It
will soon be possible to
drive from Ramot (a sub-
urb at the city's north-
ernmost tip) to Malha
without any stops," says
Ms. Raday.
One corner of the val-

an almost perfectly pre-

with a stunning display
of the valley's natural

Bill Appropriates
Foreign Aid

Washington (JTA) — The
House of Representatives
has passed a foreign aid ap-
propriations bill for fiscal
year 1994 that provides
Israel with its annual in-
stallment of $3 billion in
U.S. aid.
The bill, adopted by a vote
of 309-111 late last week,
also provides a combined
total of $2.5 billion in aid to
Russia.
The Russian aid repre-
sents a combination of sup-
plemental funding for 1993
and regular funding for the
1994 fiscal year, which
begins Oct. 1.
Foreign aid appropriated
by the House for fiscal year
1994 totals nearly $13
billion. The bill now goes to
the Senate.
