Detroit held their 47th
annual meeting June 8 at
Congregation Shaarey
Zedek. More than 350 people
attended the event with
guest speaker Julia
Koschitzky, chairman of
Keren. Hayesod World
Board. Karen Hayesod is the
equivalent of United Jewish
Appeal outside the United
States.
"There are joys of corn-
mitment," said Ms. Koschit-
zky of her community in-
volvement. "The joys far
outweigh the oys." Some of

Hillel Day School recently
held their annual dinner.
More than 500 guests at-
tended the event with guest
speaker Rabbi David
Wolpe, director of the
Ostrow Library and instruc-
tor in modern Jewish
thought at the University of
Judaism in Los Angeles.
Rabbi Wolpe gave a power-
ful speech on the importance
