COUNCIL OF ORTHODOX RABBIS • MERKAZ

The Council of Orthodox Rabbis of Greater Detroit has
received the following information, and feels that
Kosher Consumers must be made aware of these facts.

June 4, 1993
The following notice was issued to us by the Chicago Rab-
binical Council. I have also been advised that Plant #48
also includes Hebrew National.

oRo Kashruth Notice

A determination has been made by Rabbi Gedalia Dov
Schwartz, Av Beth Din ; Rabbi Sholom Rivkin, Chief Rabbi
of the Vaad Hoeir of St. Louis; and Rabbi Nota Greenblatt,
Ray of the Vaad Hakehilloth of Memphis, Tennessee, that
serious irregularities in procedures exist in certain slaugh-
terhouses supplying meat to various manufacturers.
Therefore, at the present time we can no longer recom-
mend Sinai/Best products, or any other brands bearing
Federal Plant #48, such as Wilno, Oscherwitz, or from any
other processor using meats from these slaughterhouses.
This decision has also been implemented by the Vaad
Hoeir of St. Louis, the Rabbinical Council of California (Los
Angeles), the Vaad Hakehiloth of Memphis as well as by
other communities.
