Ypsilanti, Charles and Sharon Newman were presented with the Israel Unity Award.
In their honor, over $235,000 was raised to be designated for the provision of

Beth Shalom Elects
New Executive Board
Sy Finkelstein will be install-
ed as president of Congrega-
tion Beth Shalom at Shabbat
services 9 a.m. June 19 at the
synagogue.
Prior to his election as
president, Mr. Finkelstein
was executive vice president.
He has been on the syna-
gogue board of directors for 17
years and served as an officer
on the executive committee.
He is a trustee of the Hebrew
Benevolent Society.
Officers to be installed with
Mr. Finkelstein are: Arthur
Langer, Richard Polk, Mark
Goldsmith and Barbara Aro-
