Day Open tennis tournament

The Michigan Jewish Sports
Hall of Fame will host the
Third Annual Hank Green-
berg Memorial Golf and Ten-
nis Invitational June 21 at
the Tam O'Shanter Country
Club, in West Bloomfield.
ABC/ESPN sports commen-
tator Dick Schaap will emcee
the evening banquet.
The public is invited to par-
ticipate in golf or tennis. Din-
ner only tickets also are
available. Call the Sports

YAD Plans
Annual Meeting

The Young Adult Division of
the Jewish Federation of
Metropolitan Detroit will
feature "The Passionate
Observer: Photographs by
Carl Van Vechten," at the
division's 55th annual
meeting 6:30 p.m. June 15 at
the Detroit Institute of Arts.
The election and installa-
tion of officers and boar.d
members also will take place,
and outgoing President Han-
nan Lis will provide an up-
date on the division.
The exhibition, which in-
cludes 75 vintage photos
drawn from the Hallmark
Photographic Collection, a
project of Hallmark Cards,
Inc., will focus on the major
American cultural figures
from the 1920s to the 1940s.
These include the writers and
performers associated with
the Harlem renaissance, such
as Paul Robeson, Cab (
Calloway and Billie Holiday.
A dessert reception will be
held in the Kresge Courtyard.
Contributors to the 1993
Allied Jewish Campaign are
eligible to attend. There is a
charge.
