Morris Starkman

Dr. Morris Starkman, 66, of
Bloomfield Hills, died June 1.
A pediatrician with offices in
Warren, he graduated from
the University of Toronto
Medical School in 1951. He
was co-founder of the
Michigan Region American
Red Magen David for Israel
and the Medical Division of
State of Israel Bonds. Dr.
Starkman was past chairman
'of the Balfour Concert Zionist
Organization of America and
was nominated to the
Michigan Regional Advisory
Board of the Anti Defamation
League. He was a member of
Jewish Historical Society, was
honored by the Detroit
Pediatric Society and with a
service award from Sinai
Hospital.
Dr. Starkman was a found-
ing member of Macomb
Medical Center, a Fellow of
-kmerican Academy of Pediat-
rics, a Fellow of American
Academy of Allergy and Im-
munology, a Fellow of Ameri-
can College of Allergy and a
former instructor at Wayne
Medical School and Chil-
4ren's Hospital. Last year Dr.
Starkman was named emeri-
tus chief of pediatrics at
Macomb Medical Center.
He leaves his wife, Betty;
daughter and son-in-law,
Susan and Neal Rott of Hunt-
ington Woods; son and
daughter-in-law, Robert
Starkman and Cynthia Brody
of Southfield; sister and
brother-in-law, Ann and Dr.
Norman Moss; two grand-
children.

Alan E. Thitel, 60, of Bloom-
field Hills, died June 4. A
manufacturers representative
for Health and Beauty Aids,
he founded Canary and the
Elephant. He received the
Founders Award in 1989 from
he Variety Club and was the
regional vice president of
NAGMAR (National Associa-
tion of General Merchandise
Representatives). Mr. Thitel
also was chairman of the
1,000 Club of the Anti
'Defamation League, chair-
man of Mercantile Division of
Allied Jewish Campaign, and
he donated a computer
system for Yeshiva Beth
Yehuda.
He leaves a daughter and
on-in-law, Wendy and Mich-
ael Gorge of West Bloomfield;
„sons and daughter-in-law,
Andrew of Bloomfield Hills,
Robert and Andrea of West
Bloomfield; sisters and
rothers-in-law, Adeline and
Albert Stern, Shirlee and
George Ingber; three grand-
children.
