Judge Dennis W. Archer will
speak 1 p.m. June 9 at the
Maple-Drake Jewish Commu-
nity Center. Justice Archer is
a former member of the
Michigan Supreme Court, a
partner at the law firm of
Dickensen, Wright and a
candidate for the office of
mayor, city of Detroit.
The topic of Justice Arch-
er's speech will be "The Im-
portance of the Relationship
Between Detroit and the
Suburbs." This talk will take
place in the Janice Charach
Epstein Museum/Gallery.

The brotherhood of Temple
Israel will hold its installa-
tion at a breakfast meeting
9:30 a.m. June 13. Officers to
be installed are: Stuart Fine,
president; James Grey, Jef-
frey Ingber, Robert Zack, vice

treasurer; Steven Sallen,
Charles Kowatch, Steven
Weinstock, secretaries.

Basics of Consumer Law" will
be Esther Shapiro, director of
the Consumer Affairs Depart-
ment for the city of Detroit.
Ms. Shapiro spent eight years
as consumer specialist for
the Michigan Credit Union
League. She is a past-
president of the Consumer
Federation of America and a
recipient of the 1990 Philip A.
Hart Award from that organi-
zation. She writes a weekly
column for the Detroit Free
