Bunch

The Sunday morning brunch spead at Embassy Suites Hotel in Southfield.
unday brunch has to be the
20th century's answer to living
in the fast lane.
To some, it's a sumptuous
spread of the most tantalizing
foods. To others, it's a respite
from the duties and cleanup of
one's own kitchen.
Other diners cherish the
opportunity to slow their pace
while bridging the breakfast-
lunch hours. Away from the
rigors of the office, eager to
avoid the "end-of-the-weekend-
blues," they head for the dining
room of a fine hotel or restau-
rant.
Whether with family or
friends, or on your own, the fol-
lowing brunch spots will satisfy
your palate and make you feel
pampered. The only requisites
are that you come hungry, and
leave the newspaper at home.
Some delightful, delicious and
original surprises await you.
Brunch times and prices are
for regular Sundays. Holiday

The Atheneum Hotel opened
about a year ago in Greektown,
and diners have been raving
,about Fishbones' brunches
ever since. Not actually in the
hotel but adjacent, the restau-
rant specializes in fresh Gulf
Coast seafood with a touch of
southern Creole.
Fishbones provides a buffet
that you're not likely to sample
in most restaurants. While
eggs and omelets to order are
certainly available, selections
such as bronzed catfish, jam-
balaya, gumbo and Key lime
pie are standard.
Listening to New Orleans
jazz as well as the blues, diners
sit in the Atrium, which houses
a 9 1 /2 -story waterfall, the
largest indoor waterfall record-
ed in the Guinness Book of
World Records.
Cajun roast beef and smoked
turkey are likely to be served at
the carving station. Fresh fruits
and vegetables as well as
cheeses are always available.
