The bride-elect is a

JTS Annual Dinner
To Honor Leaders

Leaders in the Detroit area
will be honored by the Jewish
Theological Seminary of
America June 1 at the annual
community-wide dinner to be
held at Congregation Shaarey
Zedek. This year's honorees
are Susan and William Gra-
ham of Adat Shalom Syna-
gogue; Renee and Richard
Gunsberg of Congregation
B'nai Moshe; Loraine and
Joel Shapiro of Congregation
Beth Abraham Hillel Moses;
Max M. Shaye of Congrega-
tion Shaarey Zedek and
Susan and Howard Tapper of
Congregation Beth Shalom.
They will be presented with
the Seminary's Second Cen-
tury Award for commitment
to the community in fostering
the religious and cultural
traditions of Conservative

Judaism. The dinner speaker
will be Shoshana Cardin, past
president of the Council of
Jewish Federations and the
Conference of Presidents of
Major Jewish Organizations.

Funds raised from the din-
ner and the earlier patrons
event will be used for rabbini-
cal and cantorial student
scholarships; the continua-
tion of Project Judaica at the
Russian State University for
Humanities, the first aca-
demic Jewish studies pro-
gram in 50 years in Russia;
the expansion of the
Seminary's outreach pro-
grams to new Russian immi-
grants in Israel as well as
many other programs. For

Memorial Funds
Are Established

Two memorial funds have
been established in the name
of the late Dr. R. Maurice
Philip Herschfus. Contribu-
tions may be made to the Dr.
Maurice Herschfus Memorial
Fund/Children's Leukemia
Foundation and sent to the
Children's Leukemia Founda-
tion, 19022 W. Ten Mile Road,
Southfield, MI 48075.
A "hachnasas kallah" (pro-
viding for needy brides) fund
has been established in his
memory at Congregation

B'nai Israel Beth Yehudah,
15400 W. Ten Mile Rd., Oak
Park, MI 48237. Checks
should be made payable to
Congregation B'nai Israel
Beth Yehudah HK Fund.

Contributions of new or us-
ed wedding gowns, veils, etc.
are being accepted by the
bridal gemilas chasadim
previously established in
honor of Dr. Herschfus.
