Senior Events
At Maple-Drake

Broadway show tunes and
Yiddish melodies are part of
the Wednesday Afternoon
Social 1-3 p.m. at the Jimmy
Prentis Morris Jewish Com-
munity Center. Refreshments
are served.
The Wednesday Friendship
Group meets at 10:30 a.m. for
discussion. The Center Men's
Forum meets Thursdays at
10:30 a.m. Bible study meets
Wednesday at 11 a.m. The
Ben-Gurion Men's Club
meets each weekday at noon.
A federally-funded, kosher
hot lunch program is offered
Monday through Friday at
the JPM. Meals are reserved
beginning at 10 a.m. each
weekday on a first-come, first-
served basis for persons age
60 and older. A donation of $2
is suggested. Call Cora Ter-
rell, 968-1260, for
information.
A variety of international
and Israeli folk dances are
taught by instructor Joan
Williams 9:30 a.m. each
Wednesday at JPM. Begin-
ners are taught a variety of
basic steps and can eventu-
ally go on to the advanced
class that follows at 10:15
a.m.
Jack Leve will teach the
fundamentals of line dancing
1 p.m. June 1 and 15. Tickets
may be purchased at the JPM

The Adult Services Depart-
ment of the Jewish Commu-
nity Center, The Jewish News
and the Area Agency on
Aging 1B will present a
symposium on "Creative
Grandparenting." Over the
course of two Tuesday eve-
ings, 7-9 p.m. June 1 and 8,
six topics will be offered at
the Maple-Drake JCC.
Syndicated columnist Jef-
frey Zaslow of the Chicago
Sun Times will talk June 1
about a modern grandparent.
Librarian Susan Barr will
give pointers on "Love Over
Long Distance — Building a
Relationship With Out-of-
Town Grandchildren." Sinai
Hospital's Karen Moore, a
pediatric nurse practitioner,
will discuss "Is Dr. Spock Still
In Style?"
A panel discussion featur-
ing Rabbi David Nelson,
Rabbi M. Robert Syme and
Rebbetzen Nehama Glogower
will take place June 8. This
forum on "Grandparenting
and Intermarriage" will be
moderated by The Jewish
News. Richard A. Polk will
speak on "Providing for Your
Grandchildren Financially";
Richard S. Victor, founder/
executive director of the
Grandparents Rights Organi-
zation, will help make grand-
parents aware of their legal
rights.
Participants may choose up
to two of the three seminars
each evening. There is no
charge for this program; call
adult services, 661-1000, for
advanced registration.
Mame Loshen, Yiddish
discussion group, will meet 1
p.m. May 24 at Maple-Drake.
There is a charge for
non-members.
Let's Talk Movies will meet
1 p.m. May 25. Doris Roby
will facilitate discussion on
Benny and Joon. Participants
should see the movie in ad-
vance of the meeting. There is
no charge.
Yesterday, Today and To-
morrow will honor requests
for a second edition of a
discussion on collectibles 1
p.m. May 27.
Doris Schuchter, a regis-
tered nurse with the Oakland
County Health Division, will
speak on "Memory Matters"
1 p.m. June 7. There is a
charge for non-members.

IRP Plans
Day At JCC

The Institute for Retired Pro-
fessionals will host a Meet
the IRP Day at the Maple-
Drake Jewish Community
Center 2:30 p.m. June 6.
All prospective retirees,
semi-retired and retired
seniors are invited. There is
no charge or obligation.
A formal presentation ex-
plaining the history and pur-
pose of IRP will be made by
Diane Hauser. Facilitators of
the 26 activity groups or their
representatives will be on
hand to answer questions.
Refreshments will be served.

BAHM Seniors
Stage Review

The Seniors of Congregation
Beth Abraham Hillel Moses
will present "A Yiddish
Revue," 10:30 a.m. May 23 at
the synagogue. This review
will showcase the talents of
Larry Bassin and Yossele
Greenbaum and will feature
a continental breakfast.
There is a charge.
