Beth Shalom
Honors Servetter

Congregation Beth Shalom
will honor Cy Servetter,
• educational director of the
synagogue's religious school,
on the occasion of his retire-
ment after 30 years. A
luncheon will be held noon
May 23 at Congregation Beth
Shalom.
Before joining Congrega-
tion Beth Shalom Religious
School as a teacher in 1962,
Mr. Servetter taught at Con-
gregation B'nai David and
Congregation Beth Moses,
and he served as youth direc-
tor for Congregation Beth
Abraham. He was appointed
education director at Beth
Shalom in 1974. He also serv-
ed as a counselor and pro-
gram director at a number of
summer camps. Since 1953,
Mr. Servetter has been on the
faculty of Burton Interna-
tional School in Detroit
where he served on the Super-
intendents Achievement
Committee and has been
active on the Community
Council.
Mr. Servetter has served as
secretary and vice president
of Congregation Shomrey
Emunah, director of Young
Israel of Oak Woods and
treasurer of Akiva Hebrew
Day School PTO He is a
member of the Jewish Educa-
tors Council, Mizrachi Or-
ganization of America and
Coalition for Alternatives in
Jewish Education.

B'nai Moshe
Shavuot Plans

The LIFE program and all
other B'nai Moshe families
will have a Shavuot workshop
9:45 a.m.-2 p.m. May 23 at
Willoway Day Camp. Activi-
ties of the day will include:
receiving the Torah and the
story of Ruth, cook-out lunch,
Shavuot crafts, paddle
boating, sports and nature
walks.
There is a charge. Call the
synagogue office, 788-0600.
Shavuot services 6 p.m.
May 25 will be followed by a
dairy dinner and a Tikkun
Tien. Shavuot study session
with Dr. Elliot Ginsburg,
associate professor of Jewish
studies and Jewish thought
at the University of
Michigan, who will speak on
"Standing At Sinai In The
Rabbinic Imagination." There
is a cost for the dinner and
reservations are required.
