headline a "Charitable Giv-
ing Update for 1993: Tax
Planning Opportunities
Under the New Administra-
tion" 4:30 p.m. May 17 at the
Max M. Fisher Building.
Sponsored by the Federated
Endowment Fund of the
Jewish Federation, the gath-
ering is organized by the
Fund's Professional Advisory
Committee.
An expert in business, tax
and property law, Mr. Beck-
with also advises on the
application of tax laws to
family and business financial
arrangements. A partner in
the law firm of Baker &
Hostetler in Washington,
D.C., he represents charitable
and other exempt organiza-
tions, health care institutions
and trade associations.
Mr. Beckwith will review
some of the best- and worst-
case scenerios for charities
and their advisers at the
meeting.
Launched in 1984 by the
United Jewish Foundation,
the Jewish Federation and its
member agencies, the Feder-
ated Endowment Fund has
generated gifts from over 600
donors.
The role of the Professional
Advisory Committee, chaired
by Donald M. Lansky, is to
educate the professional com-
munity about tax and estate
planning advantages to the
donor of charitable giving.

ed with wine and soft drinks.
