Hills will told two classes
given by Rabbi Bergstein.
Rabbi Bergstein will dis-
cuss "The suicide of King
Saul" and its implications 8
p.m. May 19; "The (Im)moral-
ity of assisted suicide" will be
8 p.m. May 26.
Rabbi Bergstein will
discuss "The Significance
Behind Codes Discovery"
June 10, discussing the hid-
den codes, their meaning,
their implications and higher
level coding.

Rabbi Bergman is the
associate rabbi at Beth
Abraham Hillel Moses and
serves as the Hillel Day
School rabbi. A native
Detroiter, he assumed his
responsibilities after com-
pleting his rabbinical train-
ing last year at the Jewish
Theological Seminary.

sored jointly by the Jewish
Theological Seminary, Michi-
gan Region United Syna-
gogue of Conservative
Judaism and the Michigan
Region Rabbinical Assembly.

Bonds Dinner
Honors Stevens
Temple Emanuel and Con-
gregation Ahavas Israel of
Grand Rapids will pay tribute
to Joseph Stevens at a State
of Israel Bonds dinner 6 p.m.
May 17 at the Amway Grand
Plaza in Grand Rapids. Mr.
Stevens will receive the "New
Life Award" for his lifelong
efforts on behalf of the Jewish
community and the State of
Israel.
Mr. Stevens' community in-
volvement and sense of
Jewish responsibility began
decades ago when he joined
the Polish Resistance during
World War II. Years later, Mr.
Stevens was recognized for
his wartime activities — with
a medal for bravery — by the
Israeli government.
Mr. Stevens, who officially
retired in 1984, continues to
share his expertise as a con-
sultant for local, national and
international graphic arts
industry enterprises. He is a
member of the American War
Veterans.
As part of the evening's pro-
gram, Glenn S. Stein, field
director for the American
Association for Ethiopian
Jewry, will speak about his
experiences as the coordina-
tor of Ethiopian aliyah during
the last airlift of 15,000
Ethiopian Jews to Israel.
