Kindergarten

Touch creatures of the "Red Sea"

For the first time next fall,
Adat Shalom nursery school
will offer a full-day transi-
tional kindergarten class,
which will meet Monday-
Friday from 9 a.m.-2 p.m.
Full-day transitional kin-
dergarten is designed for
children who have completed
two years of nursery school,
will be five years old by
March 1994 and are ready for
new experiences. The pro-
gram will include reading
and math readiness activi-
ties, computers, Jewish ex-
periences, woodworking, dra-
matic play, art, science, gym,
music and cooking.
Optional, extended day
hours will be offered before
and after the kindergarten
classes.

The Cultural Commission of
Congregation Beth Achim in
conjunction with the United
Synagogue of Conservative
Judaism will host a Shabbat
lunch May 15 following ser-
vices. Rabbi Moshe Edelman
will be the speaker. His topic
will be "The story behind the
Shema."
Rabbi Edelman is the direc-
tor of leadership development
for the United Synagogue of
Conservative Judaism and
serves as the associate direc-
tor of regional and extension
activities. He is a founder of
the Solomon Schechter
School in Suffolk County, N.Y.
There is a charge for the
lunch. Tickets are available
in the synagogue office until
May 10. For information, call

Starlight Service

The JEFF Committee of Con-
gregation Shaarey Zedek will
host a starlight Kabbalat
Shabbat Family Service 7:30
p.m. May 21 at the
synagogue.
The service which will be
led by Rabbis Groner and

members of the congregation
in the courtyard. Services will
be followed by an Oneg Shab-
bat sponsored by the
Sisterhood.
