r. -Lewis Cohen had a
dinner he'll never for-
get. Last week, he
placed a letter in the
Jerusalem Post asking if
there were any members of
the 179th Transport Com-
pany (Jewish Brigade) who
would like to have a meal
with him.
Dr. Cohen was a medical
officer with the 755th Tank
Battalion of the U.S. Army
which was attached to the
British army along with the
Jewish Brigade in Italy just
prior to World War II's end
in 1945.
The British troops held a
seder that year, and Dr.
Cohen was invited. He still
has a copy of the Haggadah
the troops used. The entire
seder lasted, he said, around
20 minutes. Still, he was glad
to be in the presence of so
many Jewish soldiers.
As a member of the
Miracle Mission with wife
Betty, he met with Jewish
Brigade veterans Victor Ron
and Harry Dayan.
"It was an emotional time
for me being with these
men," he said. "I wish there
were more people who could
have come. It was the least I
could have done for the seder
they permitted me to join."

thick accent. "But what about
