Focus Of Event
The possibility of biased
reporting about Israel
will be under a "Spotlight
on the Media: Exploring
the Coverage of Israel" 7
p.m. May 19 at the Max
M. Fisher Building.
Sponsored by the
Young Adult Division of
the Jewish Community
Council, the gathering
will feature Heath J.
Meriwether, executive
editor of the Detroit Free
Press, and Berl Falbaum,
a public relations consul-
tant.
Mr. Meriwether, who
began his journalism
career . as a general
assignment reporter for
the Miami Herald in
1970, moved into editing
two years later, with
positions progressing to
his current post at the
Free Press in 1987.
Mr. Falbaum, who will
focus on media ethics, is
president of Falbaum and
Associates, Inc., which he
founded four years ago.
He has taught journalism
part time since 1968 at
Wayne State and
Oakland universities.
Previously, he was vice
president of corporate
communications for Perry
Drug Stores, a reporter
for the Detroit News.
