Chief's Ouster
Investigated

Jerusalem (JTA) — Israel's
state comptroller will open
an investigation into the cir-
cumstances surrounding the
ouster of the nation's former
police chief, Ya'acov Terner,
by Police Minister Moshe
Shahal.
Mr. Shahal said he
welcomed the investigation
by State Comptroller
Miriam Ben-Porat.
A Knesset committee took
the step following Mr.
Terner's charges that Mr.
Shahal dismissed him be-
cause Mr. Terner refused to
let Mr. Shahal interfere with
the politically sensitive in-
vestigation of Interior Min-
ister Arye Deri, also head of
the Sephardic Orthodox
Shas party.
Mr. Shahal, on the other
hand, denies Mr. Terner's
claims and insists that he
fired Mr. Terner because the
former police chief was
holding inappropriate
discussions with Labor Par-
ty officials regarding his po-
litical future.
At the time, Mr. Shahal
said it was wrong for Mr.
Terner to discuss his polit-
ical future while he was still
"in uniform."
The two men had a chance
to feud in a public face-off
before a meeting of the
Knesset's State Control
Committee, called at the re-
quest of Likud Knesset
member Ronni Milo, a
former police minister.
Mr. Milo, who oversaw Mr.
Terner before being replaced
by Mr. Shahal when the
Labor Party came to power,
backed his former subor-
dinate Mr. Terner and called
on Mr. Shahal to resign.
Mr. Shahal dismissed Mr.
Milo's call for his resigna-
tion, saying it only showed
that the political opposition
would stop at nothing to br-
ing down the Labor coalition
government.
"Politically speaking,
there is only one truth,"
commented Mr. Shahal.
"There is no permanent
idea.
"Politicians are speaking
to the media and they
change their minds, even in
the same day, many times."
Mr. Milo countered by say-
ing the case is about fun-
damental national issues.
"This is a question of
whether we shall have a
country with law and order,"
he said, "or one of the ba-
nana republics."
Last week Mr. Milo charg-
ed Mr. Shahal with ex-
ploiting his office.

M

Viscosupplementation is simply the injection of a lubricating

gel (Hyaluronan) directly into the joints (ankles, knees and
shoulders) and it works with long lasting results and no side
effects that non-steroidals (NSAIDS) can produce. Today
thousands of people in Canada, Europe, and Japan enjoy
the absence of pain, and regained use of their joints from
this new technology — and so can YOU!

THINK AGAIN!!

"Why must 1 go on vacation to receive viscosupplementation?"

Currently the FDA is on vacation themselves and it could be
years and irreparable damage to your joints by the time this
technology winds its way through the miles of bureaucratic
red tape required for approval here in The United States.
