The anticipation is high
among Detroiters and Israelis
involved, said Mission co-chair
Jane Sherman.
Correspondents for The
Jewish News report, howev-
er, that it's business as usual
for Israelis.
"Missions don't usually get
Israelis out of their chairs,"
said Ina Friedman, Israel cor-
respondent. 'Israelis, like ev-
eryone else, are involved with
their own affairs."
"It's unknown to anyone
who's not directly involved,"
said Larry Derfner, a jour-
nalist in Israel who freelances
for American Jewish papers,
including The Jewish News.
"The average Israeli has no
idea about the Mission."
But after a Mission soli-
darity march, candle-lighting
at the Wall and other activi-
ties, more Israelis might. ❑
