Farmington Hills, MI 48018 I New York (JTA) — Herbert Tenzer, a former U.S. congressman whose Jewish activism reached from Capitol Hill to Israel, died at his home in Lawrence, N.Y. He was 87. Mr. Tenzer, chairman emeritus of Yeshiva University's board of trustees, was a two-term member of Congress from New York from 1964 to 1968. He also was president of the United Jewish Appeal of Greater New York and a founder of the America- Israel Friendship League. Mr. Tenzer's Jewish involvement spanned decades and continents. He was a founder of Rescue Children, Inc., an organiza- tion which, from 1945 to 1948, cared for more than 2,200 European war orphans. He also was known for having "hatched" Israel's fledgling poultry industry, bringing 800,000 baby chicks to Israel in 1948. Larry Nichamin Larry Nichamin, 75, o Bloomfield Hills, died Apri 7. He owned Progressiv e Linen Service and then Universal Laundry Machin- ery Co., from which h retired in 1984. William Edelson Dr. William Edelson, 69, of[ West Bloomfield, died April 6. A graduate of University of Detroit Dental School, he served three years in the Pacific during World War II as a medic with the Air Corps. He practiced den- tistry for 42 years from his Oak Park office. Dr. Edelson was a Fellow of the Royal) Society of Health and of the\ Academy of General Dentistry. He was a mem- ber of Temple Emanu-E1,1 past commodore of the Great Lakes Yacht Club,/ past president of the Oak Park Rotary, past president, of the Northern District Dental Society and a mem- ber of the dental staff of Sinai Hospital.
