Conference. The confer-
ence was highlighted by
the historic conferral of an
honorary doctorate upon
Margaret, The Lady
Thatcher, Britain's first
woman Prime Minister
and world statesperson.

The gala dinner was
held in the Banqueting
House in the Great Palace
of Whitehall, former resi-
dence of the Sovereign in
London. The dinner was
chaired by Lord Wolfson
of Marylebone. Lady
Thatcher spoke of her
connection to the Jewish
people and the democ-
ratic values espoused in
the Old Testament and
praised Bar-Ilan University
which requires the study
of Jewish heritage and
tradition.
