"I've come to the conclusion
that I've reached a point in
my political life where I've
contributed what I can."
Mr. Weizman comes from
one of the most illustrious
Jewish families of the pre-
state Palestinian yishuv.
His uncle was the Zionist
statesman Chaim Weiz-
mann, who became Israel's

Student Trips
Set For Israel

The North American Aliyah
Movement (NAAM) and
Volunteers for Israel (VFI)
will co-sponsor two student
trips to Israel in the summer
of 1993. On May 30 or July 19
students and young adults
have the opportunity to em-
bark on a landmark program:
two weeks of touring and then
three weeks on an Israeli
military base as a civilian
volunteer.
Subsidized by both organi-
zations, this trip will give par-
ticipants the opportunity to
experience Israel in a unique
way: in-depth tours, meetings
with government and Jewish
Agency officials, seminars
and information sessions.
The second part of the pro-
gram is spent living, eating
and working side-by-side with
Israeli peers as a civilian
volunteer on a military base.
Since 1982, Volunteers for
Israel has sent thousands of
people to Israel to contribute
something important and
lasting to the welfare of the
State of Israel. Possible pro-
jects include helping to
prepare or repair equipment,
attending to grounds and
maintenance, packing medi-
cal or other field supplies,
painting, cooking or any of a
variety of other jobs that need
to be done. The three weeks
on the base also includes
tours, cultural events, pro-
grams, and Shabbat off the
base with home hospitality, if
desired.
Destination . . . Israel in-
cludes subsidized airfare from
New York with a six-month
open return ticket, all accom-
modations, two meals a day
on the tour, three on the base,
and all of the activities. The
price will be approximately
$1500 subject to minor
change depending on depar-
ture date.
Call Elizabeth Schack,

and an application.
